FEDERICO PICCOTTI Curriculum

Federico Piccotti was born in Rome in 1996 and started learning the violin when he was 5 years old. He graduated at the age of 17 summa cum laude with honors at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome, getting also the scholarship “A. Giannuzzi” for the best graduates. He also graduated at the Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome with M° Sonig Tchakerian. In July 2017  he finished with distinction a Master in Music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with M° David Takeno, supported by a full Guildhall scholarship. 

In August 2019 he finished a Master in Violin Performance with M° Pavel Berman at the “Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana” in Lugano, with the support of the prestigious ESKAS Swiss scholarship.

He won the first prize at “Premio Abbiati” as best emerging chamber musician, “Concorso Nazionale Alberto Burri”, “XXIII Podiums de Musica de Cambra”, at the “Rotary Club di Roma” for the best graduate of the conservatory string section, “Premio Clivis” International Competition in Rome, “Città di Viterbo” Competition, “Lorenzo Cecchi” Competition in Rome, “Riviera Etrusca di Piombino” Competition, “ANEMOS” International Competition, and was finalist in the 32nd “Rassegna di Violino Città di Vittorio Veneto” Competition. He was also awarded in the following competitions: “Primer Palau 2019”, “Concurs Internacional de Musica de les Corts”, “Concurs Internacional de cambra Josep Mirabent i Magrans”, “Giovani Musici” in Rome, “Premio Città di Padova”.

He took part in Masterclasses with Zakhar Bron, Pavel Vernikov, Tatiana Liberova, Ilya Grubert, Harald Herzl, Sonig Tchakerian, Igor Volochine, Dora Schwarzberg, Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas, Pasquale Pellegrino, Georg Monch. He was concertmaster of the “Juniorchestra” of the Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome, performing in the presence of the Mayor of Rome, at the Quirinale in the presence of the Head of State Giorgio Napolitano, at the italian Parliament and as part of the Ravello and Spoleto Festivals. In November 2012,  even if he was not 18 years old, Federico won the selections for the “Italian Youth Orchestra”. He has been member of the “Orchestra Giovanile del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma” with whom he has performed under the direction of Maestro Nicola Paszkowski in the “Terme di Caracalla”, in the “Roman Theatre of Ostia Antica”, on tour in Oman and as concertmaster  in “Reatefestival 2012”. 

He also played in Rome, for the exhibition “Nuovi Talenti” at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, for the Association “Artipelago”, at the International School of Music “Sergio Fiorentino”, at the Teatro Fara Nume, for the Exhibition “I giovani Talenti” at the Civic School of the Arts, at the concert season of Bracciano, for the Cultural Association “Bernardo Pasquini” in Formello, during the “Showcase of the best students” of masterclasses in Nagold (Germany) or for the “Associazione Mozart di Narni”.

As a soloist he has performed with the “Orchestra Giovani Archi d’Europa” at the Castello di Giulio II in Ostia Antica, with the “Orchestra Giovanile Prometeo” where he is also the concertmaster, with the E&Y Talent Orchestra in Bologna and Florence and with Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas during the “Villa Pennisi in Music” Festival.

He has performed in a violin and piano Duo for the Spring Festival of the “Camerata Musicale Barese” in Bari, in the Church of St. Agnese in Agone in Rome,  in the English Fort of Portoferraio and in the S. Biagio church in Florence, in the Pedrera in Barcelona and in the Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona.

He was concertmaster of the Santa Cecilia Youth Orchestra in Roma, the Rome Opera Theatre Youth Orchestra, the Prometeo youth chamber Orchestra, the Guildhall symphony orchestra, the Svizzera italiana youth Orchestra.

In 2015 he won the audition to play with the Gustav Mahler Symphony Orchestra and he also played with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev, Michail Jurowsky and Sir Simon Rattle. 

Since 2016 he has collaborated with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Gran Teatre del Liceu Opera Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orchestra Leonore etc..

He has the opportunity to perform on a Annibale Fagnola 1928, after a loan of “Adopt a musician”.
